Fire/Life Safety Systems Key Projects

Department of Commerce, Herbert Hoover Building Washington D.C.
ICS installed a life safety emergency evacuation system at the Department of Commerce, (Homeland Security mandated) a six-story, two-block long (2,000,000 square feet) building in the nation’s capital. ICS installed a Notifier system for the emergency evacuation solution, networking the panels together over a fiber optic backbone.  ICS installed 1200 speakers and strobes in common areas and set up two remote (redundant) locations to process emergency pages.  Custom messages can be quickly sent over the microphone, or a prerecorded message can be released to evacuate the building. ICS connected the paging system with the phone switching system so that emergency messages can be sent from anywhere in the building, if needed.

Hitachi, San Jose
ICS designed and installed the corporate campus fire alarm system at Hitachi, equipping each of the 25 buildings with an individual Notifier fire alarm panel.  Each building is connected through a fiber optic network and feeds into a master panel at the company’s security office, where a central station monitor continuously reviews each of the fire alarm connections.  ICS is also responsible for ongoing maintenance of the system.

HSBC, Salinas
ICS designed and installed HSBC’s fire alarm system on the company’s three building campus. Several central station monitors review and track the Notifier system.  ICS tests the systems annually, and is in charge of ongoing service.
